FAQs

Where is the meeting point on Friday?

Directions from Glengarriff village: continue 5km on the N71 in the direction of Kenmare. Look out for a road narrowing sign and wooden lodge on the left. Our entrance is opposite this on the right between all the 100m signage for The Ewe Experience. You'll turn in & see a sign on your left 'The Garden of Re-Imagination' & two square signs 'Welcome to an Ark' & The Failte Ireland Welcome Standard tick to your right. Open the metal gate and if you could please close behind you (we have a crowd of hungry deer desperate to get in and have a taste of our edible garden and our deer fence & gate is the only way to keep the garden safe). Come up the driveway to park up in the outer car park where you'll be greeted by your guide Kloe. Following your foraging tour & campfire dinner, you'll have a short 5minute drive down through Glengarriff Woods Nature Reserve to Glengarriff Harbour, to meet your kayaking guide Nathan of Outdoors Ireland at the slip opposite Eccles Hotel. Eircode of hotel: P75 A072. FREE on-road parking available alongside the slip.

Who is this experience suitable for?

This experience is best suited to adults & children aged 12yrs & up. The foraging trail includes slopes, boardwalks & steps in places so unfortunately is not wheelchair accessible & a basic level of fitness & mobility is required. A basic level of fitness required for kayaking.

What else should I pack with me?

Don’t forget that you will be sleeping in a tent; a very luxurious tent, certainly, but it is still a tent! The Irish weather can be unpredictable and changeable, so we suggest packing plenty of layers. It can get cold at night, so bring warm clothes to sleep in, woolly socks, a hat and maybe even a hot water bottle. You’ll be spending your days outdoors in nature so pack plenty of activewear, hiking boots, warm clothes for bedtime, towels and toiletries.

What services are available on the island?

Don’t forget there isn’t any ATM or petrol station on the island, so please make sure you fill your wallet and your car before leaving the mainland. Some businesses take payment by card, but for smaller purchases you may want a little cash with you.

Do I need to bring bed linen & towels?

We provide bed linen and towels, but please bring your own beach towel.

How do I get to Wild Atlantic Glamping?

Bere Island is served by two car ferries (see Getting There for more details). Your booking includes a return trip with either ferry. You need to reverse onto the ferry, so join the queue ready to reverse down the pier. Please note that you cannot book the ferries in advance, so at peak times you might have to queue but if the ferry is full, don’t worry, they will come straight back for you - you will not be left behind! There will be signs from the ferry for the glamping site.

Is it possible to make some changes to the itinerary?

Absolutely, this is your adventure. Just call us on 086 6027819 and we will do our best adapt the experience to suit any specific requirements you might have.

Can you accommodate dietary requirements?

No problem at all, just let us know, when you are booking, any dietary requirements you have.

Who is my point of contact over the weekend?

Caitríona will be your host for the weekend. She will be onsite throughout the weekend if you need any assistance. She lives adjacent to the glamping site and can be contacted any time on 086 6027819.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellations made 30 days or more before check in date will receive a full refund. Deposit will not be refunded for cancellations made within 30 days of check in date.

Is there anything else I should know?

To ensure that all our guests have a pleasant and relaxing stay, we have a 'no noise' policy after 11pm. We have put a list of other FAQs on our website here but please do not hesitate to call us on 086 6027819 if you have any questions.
